Guidelines for Submission

  • Must be a female student in Grades 3-12
  • Write a webpage or series of webpages that generate something different each time based on user input — keystrokes, mouse click, audio, and/or visual input.
  • The webpage(s) can be written in HTML, CSS and maybe some Javascript – Code Club’s Web Development lessons are a good starting point for beginners (https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/codeclub/webdev-module-1).
  • There is no limit to number of submissions per contestant, but each contestant may only win one prize per category.
  • Each entry must include a short write-up describing the mobile application and discussing how it was coded, what was most challenging, and what was most satisfying.
  • All work must be your own.

Interactive programs will be judged by a panel of computing professionals from academia and industry. Entries will be judged equally on:

  • Creativity
  • Complexity
  • Emotional Impact
  • Quality of the coding
  • Write-up

Prizes will be presented during an Awards Ceremony at Code/Art Miami. All contestants are strongly encouraged to attend, but need not be present to win. Awards will be given to the top 3 contestants in each of two age groups:

  • Lower (3rd – 8th grade)
  • Upper (9th-12th grade)

Prizes are selected both to reward effort and to encourage further exploration of coding.

Submission Deadline: Feb 22nd

Email [email protected] if you have questions or comments.

  • Submitted code-based artwork will be displayed at Code/Art Miami event. In the unlikely circumstance that an entry is deemed inappropriate, Code/Art reserves the right to not display it at the event.
