Lien is an assistant professor of interactive media at the University of Miami where she teaches game, web, and interaction design and co-director of the New Experience Research and Design Lab (NERDLab).
She is an award-winning game designer who has serious fun breaking down real-world complexity into interactive systems for social good. Her creative practice includes designing interactive systems that help non-profits and humanitarian organizations communicate critical messages in an accessible and engaging manner. Her project partnerships include Open Society Foundations, U.N., Red Cross, and World Bank.
Professor Tan received her MFA in Design & Technology from Parsons School for Design at The New School. Before that, she was a consultant at Accenture designing and developing business applications for private and public sector in Washington, D.C. and New York City metro areas. She also spent 2 years living in Kitakyushu, Japan, teaching English through the JET Program.
