CodeHER Clubs

Community, Innovation & Creativity

CodeHER clubs are weekly coding clubs where girls learn 3D modeling, game design, mobile apps, website design, and code their own art pieces! These clubs serve as a fun and creative introduction to coding for girls in grades 3-8.

Our CodeHER Jr. clubs are for girls in grades 3-5 and all lessons use Scratch. Our regular CodeHER clubs are for girls in grades 6-8 and cover a variety of programming languages, including Scratch, JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS and more! Both CodeHER Jr. and CodeHER Clubs have three levels, so girls can come back the following school year and advance in their coding experience.

Currently all Code/Art run CodeHER clubs meet virtually, but we hope to resume to in-person for some of our clubs in 2021. Meet some of our amazing 2020-2021 lead instructors!

Please send program-related questions to info@code-art.com.

Express Yourself

By adding the ART to Code, CodeHER clubs aim to have words like “creative” and “exciting” replace “boring” and “difficult” in the minds of girls when they think about coding.

Find Community

CodeHER clubs are engaging, supportive, and collaborative spaces where girls are free to learn together, ask questions, and help one another!

Showcase Work

Students not only assemble a portfolio of cool coding projects, but may also enter those projects in Code/Art’s annual all-girls coding competition to win prizes and gain recognition!

Why Clubs Matter

Even though Women make up 57% — well over half – of all US undergraduates, only 18% — less than 1 in 5 – of US Computer Science grads are female.

CodeHER clubs aim to reverse this trend by creating spaces where girls are encouraged to be both creative and innovative.

“Code/Art turns that important first step with coding into an exciting and inspiring experience. Seeing my daughter’s excitement as she shows me her art gives me confidence that Code/Art is opening doors and transforming lives!”
